Can I order by phone?
All orders can be processed through our web storefront, gallery, fax or mail order.
What forms of payment are accepted and in which currency?
Visa and MasterCard. Payment is required in US currency. In Stock orders will be shipped no later than 10 business days from receipt.
Can I write a personal check or money order?
Yes. Payment made by cashier's check or money order will be shipped within 5 business days of receipt of funds.
Will I receive an order confirmation?
E-mail confirmation of your order will be sent within 48 hours to the email address provided at checkout.
What if an item is on backorder?
A 50% deposit will be required to initiate your backordered furniture for our production schedule. Final payment is due prior to shipment.
Can I order wood samples?
Wood samples are available for review at a nominal fee of $20.00 and will be refunded upon return of the samples. Please call our gallery if you are interested.

Is my credit card information safe and secure during online transactions?
Shopping at Prairie Loft is absolutely 100% safe. Your credit card information is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Technology, the Internet standard for secure commerce transactions. This technology scrambles all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address as it travels over the Internet. Any third party attempting to intercept the data would be unable to read it. This encryption makes it absolutely impossible for unauthorized parties to read any information that you send us. Prairie Loft is so confident that we will reimburse you the $50.00 deductible your credit card company charges you for any unauthorized credit card charges due specifically from your credit card number being used inappropriately after you have made authorized purchases from PrairieLoft.com.
Will my browser work with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption?
Our transaction system works with Web browsers that use SSL such as Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 or higher), Netscape Navigator (version 3.0 or higher), America Online and other popular web browsers.
Shipping
Shipping and handling fees are based upon the total purchase price of your order. All merchandise we ship is insured for its full replacement value. White glove service for setup in your home or office is available upon request. Additional charges will apply. Please call for quotations.
How will my order be shipped and packaged?
Our shipping method is Door-to-your Curbside ground trucking for tables and chairs to ensure minimal handling. Inside delivery will incur additional charges. We also use custom formed foam packaging and triple density boxes to ensure a safe passage. Your "peace of mind" is ours. We will email you with the shipper's contact information after your transaction is complete.
How is sales tax calculated on orders?
Sales tax does not apply to orders shipped outside the state of Illinois. Illinois State law requires that we charge a sales tax of 7.25 percent for deliveries or pick ups within Illinois.
Can orders be shipped outside the contiguous 48 United States and internationally?
Yes, please email or fax us with your order details or questions you may have. We can arrange shipping to most zip codes in Alaska and Hawaii at an additional cost. Shipments outside the U.S. are subject to extra handling charges and fees. Duties and value-added taxes may be required and are the responsibility of the customer.
Furniture Warranty
Warranty
Prairie Loft has a full five-year warranty on its' furniture pieces to the original purchaser, to be free from defects in workmanship and material for a period of 5 years following the date of purchase made after 2005. We reserve the right to replace or repair your merchandise with an identical item, subject to availability (or one of equal type and quality if the product is no longer available), or you may choose an alternate item of equal value during this limited warranty period. Should Prairie Loft find return of the product necessary, all of the packing including all related shipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer. This warranty does not apply to damages, which may result from neglect, accidental or intentional damage, and normal wear and tear, misuse of product, unauthorized repair, and exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, and alteration or abuse of product. This warranty does not apply to Prairie Loft furniture placed in any type of commercial installation.
Custom Pieces
What woods and finishes are available?
Our Prairie, Craftsman and Greene furniture collection are generally constructed of solid mahogany wood and architectural grade plain sliced core veneers with a natural finish. Custom woods such, as quarter-sawn oak and cherry are available. Prices will be quoted for each piece completed with the wood of your choice.
Can I change the dimension of your pieces to fit my space?
Absolutely. Since our furniture is handcrafted one at a time we can change the dimension to suit your living space. There will be a nominal fee in labor and materials to make the change and scale to proportion.
What is the general time it takes to produce a custom piece of furniture?
Some factors that impact lead-time for custom pieces include the nature and complexity of the piece, developmental phase and seasonality; generally the average time is between 3 and 6 months. This time is necessary because your piece will be hand crafted to order by one of our craftsman. It will be worth your wait, we guarantee it. However most of our collection is ready for delivery, shipped from us directly to you within 10 business days. All custom orders are NON refundable.
Can I choose a different fabric or leather?
Send us your preferred fabric or leather; we will install it at no additional charge. Our standard fabric is Sage microfiber. Please call or email us to confirm how much material is required for your order.
Returns and Damage Policy
Our Guarantee
At Prairie Loft we have instituted as generous a return policy as possible while retaining the ability to offer the best prices. Prairie Loft will gladly accept returns within 7 days from the date of receipt of merchandise if for any reason you feel your new furniture does not meet your needs or match your lifestyle. Please carefully repackage your returns items in their original packaging. Refunds are made according to the method of payment, excluding shipping, handling charges plus a restocking fee equal to 25% of the total purchase price. Returns will not be accepted for discounted, discontinued or custom ordered items. (Please note that you should insure the item for its full replacement value and are responsible for the safe return of merchandise and all shipping and handling costs). We'll refund the shipping cost if the return is a result of our error. If you have any questions or require additional information about an item, please email us before you place your order. This will minimize any timely and costly mistakes.
Shipping Refusals?
Prairie Loft is always concerned about your satisfaction. However, should you decide that you wish to refuse receipt of an item ordered from us (which has already been processed and handled through our order and shipping department) credit will be issued for the item, less shipping/handling charges and a restocking fee equal to 25% of the total purchase price.
What should I do if my furniture arrives damaged?
If your merchandise arrives damaged a freight claim must be filed with the carrier within 24 hours. All merchandise received should be inspected for damage, such as crushed corners, cracks, dents, punctures or watermarks or sounds indicative of loose item. Note the nature of the damage on all copies of the shipper's delivery documents and have the driver sign them. Retain a copy for your records. Upon our receipt of the returned item, we reserve the right to replace your damaged merchandise with an identical item, subject to availability, or you may choose an alternate item of equal value. If damage is observed after the driver has left please contact the carrier within 24 hours.
You should note that new furniture might have small amounts of pumice dust, wax, glue, superficial scratches and packing marks from the wrapping materials or blankets. Color and variations in wood grains and scarring in leather are natural characteristics of the materials and are not defects, but rather hallmarks of quality furniture. It is impossible to control the expanding and contracting of woods caused by many different humidity conditions throughout the country.

Trust in knowing we are not in the business of selling information to others and are committed to protecting the privacy of its customers. We have taken strong measures to ensure that the information we gather from you will be secure and confidential. We do not sell, rent or trade our customer's personal information. We protect this information and use it for communication purposes only.
How are "cookies" used?
Cookies are small bites of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Prairie Loft cookies allow us to recognize repeat users and keep track of items placed into your shopping cart and their relevant information so that you do not need to input the same information more than once. We do not place any personally identifiable information in your cookies. In addition, cookies are not used to access information entered on the secure server.
